The Schmidl winery has been passed down in the family for the last 6 generations. Viticulture and wine making has always been a passionate hobby of my ancestors, including my father, Franz Schmidl, who managed the winery alongside a bakery. In the year 2000 I graduated from the Wein -und Obstbauschule in Klosterneuburg and in 2009 I took over the winery and immediately switched to organic cultivation practices (horticulture). That same year I was named “Winemaker of the Year”.
